Chad's Success Story

Chad began participating in the Exerceo Software Development Program hoping to break into the field as a career. He was unemployed when he began but had a comfort level with general programming. What he really hoped to get out of the program was a more specific understanding of what went into developing commercial software applications. He recalls for us, "I was comfortable with basic programming, but the architecture and workflow of creating modern enterprise applications were unfamiliar to me. The working group taught me things that were important to working in the field."

By his own admission, Chad was a little overwhelmed to begin with and relied on the learning environment Exerceo creates with each of its programs in a process called Cultivation, a six-step discipline for identifying and mentoring tomorrow's superstars by immersing them in a positive, collaborative, and empowering environment that encourages learning and career development. Cultivation encourages sharing of these personnel across teams where they continue to grow their career while influencing others through collaboration, mentorship and knowledge sharing.

Following completion of the Exerceo program, Chad went on to participate in an internship at Sofiac, a Sustaining Partner of Exerceo"s IT Initiative, in their program called "The Talent Incubator", and now works full-time at another Partner, Interclypse, Inc.

Chad was challenged to learn new concepts and new technologies, but perseverance and hard work paid off in reaching his goal to establish a new career in software development. Chad told us, "[my] mentors were always willing to help when I didn't understand something. I don't believe I could have gotten to where I am, doing the kind of work I really wanted to do, in the same amount of time without having participated in the program." ~Congratulations, Chad!
